Makers in awe of Knull’s first appearance in Venom 3 —and now they want fair  compensation.



Imagine this: You are a comic book artist, and one of your most exciting creations is thrown into a major movie franchise that you did not even know he was in. That is what occurred when the mighty Knull-the god of darkness and father of the symbiotes-showed up in the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance to the shock of his creators.

The Last Dance. Yeah, I really do, so I can finally afford that lazy river moat that surrounds my house.

compensation. Now with creators like Cates and Stegman, they just hope to get paid what they deserve for their work.

Marvel has a spotty record when it comes to compensating comic book creators for their work. Legendary creator Jim Starlin, for example, had a very public fight over compensation for his creation, Thanos, as used in the Avengers movies. With Sony in the mix, now, it is anybody’s guess whether that landscape will change.

This final dance really should raise the level of epic struggle to a whole new level.




Leading up to Venom 3, the movie will center around Eddie Brock-aka Tom Hardy-and his symbiote as they try to take down bigger and bigger threats. Past Venom movies met mixed reviews upon release but nonetheless managed to gain a devoted fanbase in part because of their blend of campy charm.

What is next for the creators of Knull? Sit around and wait, hoping that recognition and money finally pop in as a result of your baby’s tour through Hollywood. While we are just an audience, we cannot predict but can guess from our seats how this classic villain is going to rock the world of venom.
